Dear Friends of the Fair:

Photos of Vendor TentLocally Grown! The theme of the 86th Annual Yorktown Grange Fair that will be held on September 9-12, 2010, highlights the contribution of the local farms and achievements of local businesses.  A true agricultural fair, unique in Westchester County, the Yorktown Grange Fair provides family fun and entertainment while preserving the rural heritage of northern Westchester.   Annually, it is anticipated that over 22,000 people attend the fair over the four days.

Since the Grange Fair began, the purpose has been to encourage the community to exhibit their best in a variety of categories and has provided a showcase for the town’s people to “show off” their home grown (or homemade) goods, whether vegetables, flowers, needlework, baking, photography, livestock or poultry.  The “produce and vegetable auction” signaling the end of the fair, is always a favorite.

This year, in keeping with the theme of Locally Grown, visitors to the fair will be able to sample food demonstrations (made with local ingredients) from area chefs and restaurants, that will take place in the commercial tent area.

The Grange Fair is honored to welcome chef and restaurateur Jonathan Pratt, owner of Peter Pratt’s Inn in Yorktown Heights and Umami Café in Croton.  Pratt, who was named Best Green Chef by Westchester Magazine in 2009, along with the cooking demonstrations, will be one of the judges for the fair’s popular baking contest.  Area farms, including Stuarts Farm in Granite Springs, Meadows Farm in Yorktown Heights and Kitchawan Farms in Ossining, will create displays with their locally grown vegetables and flowers.

Highlights of the fair also include the horse show exhibition, audience participation games such as pie eating, watermelon eating and nail driving, carnival rides, variety show and live entertainment.  This year’s expanded musical line-up features local favorites and some new faces, in addition to circus acts which delight our audiences, young and old.

In order to preserve the tradition of the fair, we hope that you will become a fair vendor and help us continue to provide the best fair possible.
